LaMelo Ball caught in the middle of bizarre Twitter saga

What happens when you combine LaMelo Ball, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter into the same story? Apparently, you get a home visit from the cops.

This past weekend, a girl on Snapchat apparently shared a picture alleging that she was with the Los Angeles Ballers star in his hotel room while on the road for the Junior Basketball Association.

Twitter user @LakeShowYo took a screen shot of the photo and briefly posted it to his account.

Shortly thereafter, @LakeShowYo received a direct message from “Elsie,” who threatened to use her father’s position in the local police to send the authorities into action.

Rather than stress over that potential fate, @LakeShowYo decided to go for a swim.

The cops did, in fact, descend on the residence…

…but rather than create a real scene, they apparently shared a Lakers-centric chat with @LakeShowYo and even gave the user’s brother some stickers.

For what it’s worth, the whole situation might have been even more ado about nothing than it seems. Twitter user @SVLK0 suggested that the photo posted by “Elsie” was culled from someone else’s Instagram account and put on her Snapchat “for clout.”

This strange kerfuffle was enough to stir LaMelo himself to action online, to defend himself against these social-media aggressions.

“They tryna [sic] put an L on me,” Melo tweeted.

All’s well that ends well on the internet, as well. LaMelo and @LakeShowYo seemingly cleaned up the mess that emerged between them amid this mayhem.

Melo, though, didn’t let @LakeShowYo go without a warning.

“As long as u don’t lie on me brotha [sic],” he tweeted. “FYI I only shoot 3s on the court no where else don’t play me.”

The world can be a tricky place to navigate for a young celebrity like LaMelo. Fortunately, in this situation, the intervention of social media didn’t result in any real-world trouble.
